Hardella, Kachuga, Pangshura)
- Pangshura smithii - Brown roofed turtle (formerly in Kachuga)
- Pangshura tecta - Indian roofed turtle (formerly in Kachuga)
- Pangshura tentoria - Indian tent turtle (formerly in Kachuga)
- Pangshura tatrotia
- Pangshura sylhetensis - Assam roofed turtle[3]
Pangshura further breaks down into sub species for P. smithii with P. s. pallidipes (pale footed roofed turtle), P. tentoria with P. t. circumdata (pink ringed tent turtle) and also Pangshura flaviventer.
Pangshura do well in captivity when given plenty of space, clean water, and a warm place to bask. They are a smaller species, with males averaging 3.5" - 5" and females from 5" - 9". Set up is similar to US map turtle species, and a variety of foods work well for them including commercial pellets, feeder fish, snails, some greens and fruits, red wiggler worms etc...
Breeding habits include some fanning of front claws by the males to the females until the female allows courtship to take place. Average clutch sizes seem to average from 2 up to 10 eggs, with multiple clutches possible per season (clutch size varies between species).
If you find yourself lucky enough to cross paths with keeping and breeding these great turtles, you won't be disappointed.
